Original Qur'an Had 17,000 Verses According to Shia Sources
By Maulana Usman Iqbal
Usul al-Kafi, a canonical work of the Shias, lays claim that the original Qur'an initially comprised of 17,000 verses. This claim would mean that the Qur'an that we have today, which is around 6000 verses, has in fact been tampered with and distorted from it's original message: a belief that is tantamount to disbelief according to any Muslim of sound understanding. Maulana Usman Iqbal presents this text from Usul al-Kafi and discusses this belief of distortion from the Shias as well as addressing some of the sophistry that they present in attempting to explain away this text, by also presenting other works of major Shia scholars who have defending and confessed to this belief. Any person in genuine search for truth and hope in ensuring/safeguarding their faith must watch this and know the beliefs of the Shia from a fair, just and academic perspective.
