Imām Kamāl al-Dīn al-Bayāḍī al-Ḥanafī (d.1097AH) ‘Allāmah Kamāl al-Dīn al-Bayāḍī al-Ḥanafī (1044 – 1097 AH) was a prominent scholar of the Ottoman Empire. He studied under his father who was Qāḍī of Makkah, and under other scholars of Ottoman Europe and Makkah. He became Qāḍī of Aleppo in 1077 AH and was revered by its people. At Aleppo, he engaged in many debates and discussions with its Muftī, ‘Allāmah Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan al-Kawākibī. He then became Qāḍī of Bosnia, and then of Makkah in the year 1083 AH. At Makkah, he taught his work Ishārāt al-Marām. He became Qāḍī of Constantinople in the year 1086 AH. He then became Qāḍī of the Ottoman Army. The historian ‘Allāmah al-Muḥibbī states: “I saw him in Europe and benefited from him…He arrived at Damascus and I met him there. I found him to be a mountain of knowledge, firmly grounded.” (Khulāṣat al-Athar, 1:181)
