Hazrat Mufti Faruq Meeruthi Sahib's (hafizahullah) Priceless Advice:
A few years ago, Hazrat Mufti Faruq Sahib Meeruthi (hafizahullah) came to the UK. When he visited Birmingham, he gave the following priceless pieces of advice. They are being forwarded once again, as they only all the more relevant.
1. The younger generation of ulama are becoming more and more distant from the Akabir of Deoband. Some of them even consider it blameworthy to associate themselves with the Akabir and to quote them in their talks.
2. A person whose father was brave will want to inculcate bravery in himself, but what will he who doesn't even know his father do? Similarly, if we don't know who our spiritual forefathers are, how can we follow in their footsteps? Detaching oneself from the Akabir is nothing short of one's spiritual death.
3. Small books on the lives of the Akabir should be introduced into the Madrasah syllabus and there should be proper exams on these books.
4. Hazrat Mufti Faruq Sahib has actually written concise biographies on our Akabir with this objective in mind.
5. More effort is required in teaching Madrasah students about contemporary deviant sects. We read about Khawarij, Mu'tazila, Qadariyya etc but they are not as relevant now as Rawafid, Ahl-e-Hadith, Qadiyani etc. Graduates need to know their evidences, the answers thereto and their common methods of deception.
6. Even the small children of the deviant sects know their evidences, but if he comes to debate or argue with one of our Ulama, they don't have the faintest idea of how to answer. This further strengthens these people in their falsehood, as they feel proud that even an alim couldn't answer them.
7. The deviant sects work amongst the laypeople, whilst our ulama have adopted a holier than thou attitude where they seldom mix with the laypeople. This is why our youngsters are moving further and further away from us. Ulama need to be more accessible to the laypeople.
8. There are too many petty arguments and conflicts between madrasahs, different groups, mureeds of one Shaykh with another shaykhs mureeds etc which is causing a great deal of problems. This is a major cause for problems and is why we can't move forward, whereas the deviant sects preach their baatil wherever they are.
9. The ulama need to collectively think how we can save our youngsters from the baatil out there.
10. We feel very happy that alhamdulillah we have a lot of madrasahs, darul Ulooms, etc but have become oblivious to the fact that a lot of people are becoming misguided and moving away from us. Let us break out of this "khush fehmi" and work on the awaam.
May Allah give us all the ability to practice accordingly, and may Allah Ta'ala protect and bless Hazrat Mufti Sahib immensely. Amin.
