Is the Fate of Disbelievers Really Eternity in Jahannam (Hellfire)?
By Mufti Zameelur Rahman YouTube Video Description‘A’ishah (Allah be pleased with her) once enquired about a deceased relative of hers, ‘Abdullah ibn Jud‘an, who was known for his philanthropy and keeping good family ties. She asked the Prophet ﷺ: “Will that benefit him?” The Prophet ﷺ replied: “It will not benefit him. Never once did he say: ‘My Lord, forgive my sins on the Day of Recompense.’” (Sahih Muslim, 518) Imam al-Nawawi explained: “Meaning, keeping family ties, feeding others and his noble activities will not help him in the Next Life because he was a disbeliever (kafir).” (Sharh Sahih Muslim, 3:108) Using textual evidence and scholarly citations, this video-presentation looks at a) who is identified as a disbeliever (kafir); and b) what is the fate of a disbeliever. Common misconceptions about some verses of the Qur’an, specifically 2:62 5:69 and 3:113, are addressed. The reason why disbelief (kufr) is so grave a crime is briefly examined, as is one of the wisdoms underlying eternal punishment of disbelievers in the Next Life. _________________________________________________ As-Subah is a non-profit registered charity organisation.
