A CRITIQUE OF THE PALMYRAN CREED Deconstructing Ibn Taymiyya's Theology of Resemblance Shaykh Shaykh Saʿid Foudah Translated by Abdul Aziz Suraqah Sunni Publications, Rotterdam. First Edition 2018 Paperback, 192 pages, 220 grams. ISBN 978-90-79294-26-8
How astounding are Allah’s affairs in creation Each person finds facilitation for what he was created to be
Perhaps one of the most controversial scholars of the classical era, Taqi al-Din Ibn Taymiyya’s works in theology have been promoted by the modern day Salafi movement as an accurate representation of the creed of the predecessors [salaf]. In The Palmyran Creed, named after the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur, Syria), Ibn Taymiyya presents the foundations of his theology, expounds upon its principles and offers his arguments in support of it. At the heart of this lies his claim of affirming only what Allah and His Messenger affirmed of the Divine attributes [sifat], “without inquiring into the modality [takyif], drawing likeness [tamthil], or engaging in alteration [tahrif] and denial [taʿtil],” ostensibly purifying Divine Oneness [tawhid].
In his critique of The Palmyran Creed, renowned contemporary theologian Shaykh Saʿid Foudah clinically refutes Ibn Taymiyya’s claim, demonstrating that it could not be further from the truth. The Taymiyyan theology of resemblance [tashbih] is deconstructed and the anthropomorphic premises [tajsim] for what Ibn Taymiyya considers to be the reality and attributes of Allah are revealed. Shaykh Saʿid establishes, rationally and textually, that ascriptions such as hands, eyes, face, shin, movement, direction, change, spatial contact, limits and boundaries are inconceivable with respect to Allah, and that nothing can possibly share in His reality. This ground breaking work elevates contemporary Muslim discourse beyond superficial polemics and into deeper realms of the rational sciences.

as-salam 'alaikum
Anyone have a concise on-line guide on how to perform 'Umrah ?
I'm looking for something which clearly differentiates between the obligatory and the recommended actions.

‘Ad hominem’ from the ‘logical’ ‘mufti’ Abul layth!?
May I ask Zameelur, however, why you consider him an apostate?

Similarly in Imam Al-Bayhaqi’s Al-Asma’ wa’l Sifat, Imam Al-Khattabi is quoted saying: هذا الحديث مما تهيب القول فيه شيوخنا ، فأجروه على ظاهر لفظه ، ولم يكشفوا عن باطن معناه ، على نحو مذهبهم في التوقف عن تفسير كل ما لا يحيط العلم بكنهه من هذا الباب This hadith is among those narrations our teachers were reticent to speak about, so they relayed its apparent [dhahir] wording and did not disclose its hidden [batin] meaning — this being in accordance with their way, which was to hesitate explaining any text in this subject matter whose reality was not encompassed. As you can see from the above, the Imam clearly differentiates between zahir al-lafz and batin al-ma’na.
The Imām says:
وما أشكل من ذلك وجب إثباته لفظا، وترك التعرض لمعناه ونرد علمه إلى قائله
[لمعة الإعتقاد ج ١ ص ٦]
"And whatever is ambiguous from these [verses referring to the Sifāt of Allāh], it is compulsory to affirm its words, to leave the seeking of its meaning and consign its knowledge to the One [Allāh] who said it." [ Lum'at al-I'tiqād, 1/6] Here the Imām has very clearly stated that the affirmation of these Attributes of Allāh are upon their words and their meanings are consigned, which gives validity to the fact that wherever he says Dhāhir, his intent is the apparent words and not the apparent meaning.
