The following is an audio discourse from the lessons on al-Aqida al-Tahawiyya by Dr. Abul Hasan Hussain Ahmed. It covered the issue of how to love and venerate the Companions (Sahaba) of Allah’s Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), as well as mentioning what the innovators from Shia’ism hold with regard to them. He also mentioned what Ibn Taymiyya (d. 728 AH) is on record as saying about some of the most famous and venerated Sahaba with full referencing.
This is indeed a thought provoking dilemma for those who claim to be on the Way of the Sahaba but their own putative authority had made some very highly contentious remarks about some of them as witnessed by someone who knew him, and then documented by a reliable Historian (mu’arrikh) and Hadith scholar (Muhaddith), known as al-Hafiz ibn Hajr al-Asqalani.
